Historical Data
In order to offer functionalities such as analyzing past portfolio performance and tracking the evolution of allocations, historical data becomes essential. Jay provides clients with these capabilities and requires historical data during the client onboarding process.
Please contact data@jaysolutions.com for further instructions on delivering the historical data.
Common Practise
Typically historical data is delivered from the beginning of last year. That enables the client to analyze the previous and present year. In other words, TheStartDate is usually the 1st of January of the previous year. Another date can also be agreed as the TheStartDate.
The following data has to be delivered to Jay for each onboarding customer:
🅣 TRANSACTIONS
Please provide historical transactions since TheStartDate until the inception of daily data deliveries.
Please provide historical transactions in the same format as the continuous daily data deliveries.
This allows Jay to show historical transactions, calculate performance and provide the client with analytics and reporting services.
🅟 POSITIONS
Please provide historical positions on TheStartDate and in addition quarterly until the inception of daily data deliveries.
Please provide historical positions in the same format as the continuous daily data deliveries.
Jay creates initial positions for TheStartDate and reconciles positions and cash account holdings quarterly to make sure all transactions and corporate actions are processed correctly.
Special requirements in FIFO Markets
In some countries, e.g. in Finland, the correct purchase price of each holding must be preserved for e.g. taxation purposes. Outside FIFO markets the average acquisition price delivered in the initial position data is adequate, so there’s no need for additional purchase lot data.
🅛 PURCHASE LOTS
Please provide purchase lots on TheStartDate.
This allows Jay to follow FIFO rules and maintain Purchase values in those markets where FIFO is a requirement.
